Board of Directors Meeting
Tuesday, March 11, 2025

The meeting of the board of directors was held on March 11, 2025, in the Conference Room of the Judy and Doug Lowrie Spay and Neuter Clinic.

The meeting was called to order by Bob Wilson at 5:35 pm.

APPROVAL OF FEBRUARY MEETING MINUTES – Bob Wilson

A motion was made by Mary James to approve the January meeting minutes. Jenny Brock 2nd the motion and everyone voted in favor.

PUBLIC COMMENT – Bob Wilson

There was no public comment.

SPAY NEUTER CLINIC – Andrew Tepe/ Tammy Davis

The clinic performed 455 surgeries last month. Total number of surgeries is 11,109.

FINANCIAL REPORT – Tammy Davis

Tammy reviewed the financial summary. Both estates and public donations are higher than budgeted. Total revenue is more than what was budgeted. Expenses were also higher than what was budgeted.

DIRECTORS REPORT – Tammy Davis

Tammy updated the board on adoption events. The shelter will be participating in the downtown Jonesborough St. Patrick’s Day event. Tammy informed the board that false information was being spread on social media concerning the ordinances and laws pertaining to chained dogs in Tennessee. Tammy explained the difference between city ordinances, county ordinances, and state laws. Tammy assured the board that animal control was working with the community to do what we could to help dogs that are chained or tethered.

EMPLOYEE/ANIMAL REPORT – Tammy Davis/Cindy Robinson

The shelter currently has 83 dogs and 51 cats. Since January 1st the shelter has taken in 643 cats/dogs.

MEDICAL REPORT- Emily Ball/Tammy Davis

Tammy reported the number of animals on medication is back to normal. Fewer animals means less illness.

FOUNDATION REPORT – Brian Parlier

No report.

INVESTMENT FOUNDATION REPORT – Linda Bearfield

Linda reported things are going well and there are no real changes to discuss.

HUMANE SOCIETY REPORT- Mary James

Mary told the board the Humane Society has 97 dogs and 28 cats in their care now.

ANIMAL CONTROL BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS – Board Members

OLD BUSINESS – Bob Wilson

There was no old business to discuss.

NEW BUSINESS – Bob Wilson

The board had written revised bylaws since our last meeting. Jenny Brock made a motion to accept the new/revised bylaws and to forward them to the city and county for approval. Mary James 2nd the motion, everyone voted in favor.

The meeting was concluded at 6:05 pm.
