The Washington County Johnson City (WCJC) Animal Shelter is known for providing high quality care to animals in need of homes. The Dog Activity Attendant is a part-time, on-sight position and is responsible for providing dogs with the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

 

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The WCJC Animal Shelter is a non-profit animal shelter located in Johnson City, TN. WCJC Animal Shelter strives to be a safe place for dogs and cats who are lost, surrendered, neglected or mistreated, and who deserve a chance with a loving family of their very own. WCJC Animal Shelter places all animals who can humanely and safely be adopted into a loving home. An incredibly dedicated staff, generous volunteers, and donors ensure every animal is given all the care and resources available to help them thrive in a new forever home. WCJC Animal Shelter serves over 3,000 animals per year with 40 employees and 20 long-time volunteers.

 

JOB DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Rotate dogs so every dog has at least 15 – 20 minutes of free time in either the outdoor fields or outdoor concrete pads
  • Clean kennels and remove any animal waste, as needed
  • Replace any soiled bedding , as needed
  • Provide fresh, clean water, as needed
  • Aide in monitoring the public community field
  • Assist with dog laundry
  • Watch for signs of animal illness and behavior changes and report to supervisor
  • Follow shelter policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with the team to evaluate and improve shelter standards
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings
  • Provide reports to supervisor, as requested
  • Contribute to a positive work environment
  • Crosstrain in all areas of the shelter, as appropriate
  • Assist in onboarding and training new employees and volunteers
  • Participate in an annual training for staff and volunteers
  • Participate with shelter events
  • Assist with additional tasks, as assigned

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Part-time employment, average of 20 hours per week
  • 5 hour shifts, 1-6pm
  • 100% on site
  • No travel requirements
  • Lifting requirements are up to 50lbs
